Fritz & Fern was born out of the desire to create and connect.  It grew out of a decision to put family first and foster real relationships within local communities.

Steph, our owner, began pouring candles as a creative outlet and passion project.  She loved combining scents and curating the perfect vessel.  In the spring of 2020, when face-to-face contact with family and friends was limited, she began front porch deliveries of her candles as a small way to knit relationships during such a difficult time.  Soon, Steph discovered the joy of selling her candles in weekend markets and locally owned boutiques.  Before she knew it, Steph’s passion project had turned into a small business—Fritz & Fern Candle Co.

Steph’s husband Tim, at the time a partner of a Columbus law firm, supported Steph’s passion but never dreamed it would turn into family enterprise.  Yet in early 2022, inspired by his wife’s creativity and tenacity, Tim realized the potential Fritz & Fern could provide his family if he committed himself to its growth and development.  They took a chance and a giant leap of faith.  Tim left the legal profession, and together they made a life-changing commitment to each other, their two boys, and the fledgling candle business that at the time was entirely contained within the basement of their home.

Today, Fritz & Fern pours its candles in a small barn in rural central Ohio.  Just like when we started, our candles are made with 100% soy wax, carefully curated non-toxic fragrance oils, and American-made glass jars.  More importantly, our values remain the same: we are a family business committed to each other and the local communities we serve.
